Aim to Be Awesome, Not Perfect

So I have been updating my e-Portfolio, my website, for my EDLD 5303 class. I am struggling a bit with it, since I started the website as something to showcase my creations, like my Tech Tools Showcase PD website and my BreakoutEDU creations. But this class is asking me to share more of my learning, and merging the two is proving a bit difficult for me. I figure I will find my happy medium, just not sure when just yet... However I am trying something new for this. I created an Anchor account and I am creating a podcast for one of my assignments.  I have been making a lot of screencasts lately as an ITS, since my district is moving to asynchronous online learning, and I just didn't want to make another one. I am really struggling to find time to read these days (or even the desire to do so). Luckily for me, professional development can come in a variety of ways.  These days, my favorite way to learn is with podcasts. Here are a few of my favorites: Google Teacher Tribe  -  I really enjoy this podcast each week. It is a great way to keep up with what is going on with Google updates. Another favorite part of mine is the listener questions - usually I have those questions too!  Shukes and Giff  - This is another favorite because of all the little "a-ha's" that they share. I have learned so much! EduDuctTape - a new fave! I love how Jake and his guests ask questions and then come up with solutions! Regular professional development does not always reach everyone. Sometimes it covers material the learner already knows; other times it goes to fast and is too advanced; and may not even be applicable in the learner's classroom. When this happens to you, how can you learn and grow as an educator on your own? Reading:  There are several books that can help teachers learn new engagement or management strategies.  Here is my Amazon book list .  Some of the books, like Shift This , have weekly chats on Twitter (sign up for the #ShiftThis Remind to get notifications about the chat) Podcasts:  There are lots of educational podcasts that are available, based on what you want to learn.  I suggest checking out Google Teacher Tribe , Sustainable Teaching , The 10 Minute Teacher , and Kids Deserve It .  Conference Handouts:  After conferences, a lot of presenters will share their work, either on their personal website or on the conference website. ...
